#APBMusic: CHEENO GHEE
Originating from Brooklyn, New York, and Atlanta, Georgia, Cheeno emerges as a driving force for her generation, leading by example and inspiring fellow artists and creatives alike. Influenced by her mother's musical legacy, Cheeno's career began at 13 when she recorded her first track, finding confidence in her unique style.
Fueled by a passion for her artistry and a hunger for success, Cheeno's creative journey is deeply rooted in her personal experiences. As she puts it, “there's nothing to create if nothing's experienced.”
HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU MADE YOUR FIRST SONG, AND WHEN DID YOU FEEL CONFIDENT ENOUGH TO BEGIN TO SHARE YOUR MUSIC?
CHEENO: I was 13 when I recorded and released my first song and to be honest I was confident and ready to put it out as soon as I finished recording. Flaws and all.
WHAT MOMENT OR ARTIST INSPIRED YOU TO DIVE INTO THE WORLD OF MUSIC?
C: It wasn’t a specific artist who inspired me to begin, but seeing the way music impacted the people around me, like my mother (the hip hop head), made me want to be the person influencing others through my art.
HOW DO YOU PERSONALLY DEFINE SUCCESS, AND WHAT MILESTONES OR ACHIEVEMENTS MARK SUCCESS FOR YOU?
C: Success for me lives on a spectrum and I tend to feel the most successful when I’m in alignment. Like when I’m creating music, and doing sold out shows but also having great date nights, having family time, and taking vacations. Also, being discovered and celebrated by people big and small all over the world is a continuous milestone. It always feels amazing to know my words impact people globally.
WHAT’S YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS LIKE?
C: Very personal, but to sum it up there’s nothing to create if nothing has been experienced. I hope to be able to share one day though, because I want to be able to collaborate with people.
HOW DO YOU CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE?
C: Through the honesty in my music. By showing myself in low seasons, keeping myself human, and speaking God into them. GODCHILD MENTALITY!
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOURSELF IN THE NEXT 5-10 YEARS?
C: I see myself being a very influential person in music and a catalyst for my generation and the next. A leader for other artists and creatives, and to be an honest powerhouse amongst executives.
